Freiluftbereich mit verschiedenen
Fachwerkhäusern.
Tapfer existierend im Schatten
des Bensberger Rathauses,
entworfen von Architekt Gottfried Böhm.

with an interesting and idyllic
open-air exhibit with various
framed houses.
Valiantly existing in the shadow
of the Bensberg City Hall,

Nachdenken über die Impressionen
des gestrigen Museumsbesuchs.
Über das Wohnen, über das Arbeiten.
Über den Kontrast zur Egozentrik
des architektonischen Beton-Brutalismus.
Über die Hochhaus-Verbunkerung
der modernen Arbeitsmenschen.
Über Arbeit ohne Fließband.
Über Kommunikation
ohne diktatorische Elektronik.
Über den Alptraum
forcierter Moderne.
Über angebliche Prioritäten
verbunkerter Verwaltungen.
Über die Unfähigkeit,
die so entstehende Brutalisierung
in all ihren Formen zu erkennen.
Über die Sehnsucht
nach überschaubarer Idylle.
Die angeblichen Prioritäten
bedrohen
die Existenz dieser Museumsoase.
Es kümmert die Entscheidungsträger
offenbar wenig,
wenn die Geschichte des Lebens,
des Arbeitsalltags verlorengeht.
Vielleicht ist das sogar gewollt,
um das Verschwinden
der Überschaubarkeit zu legitimieren ...

museum visit impressions.
About habitation, about work.
About the contrast to
the egocentricity of architectural
concrete-brutalism.
About the high-rise-bunkerization
of modern working people.
About work without assembly lines.
About communication
without dictatorial electronics.
About the nightmare
of forced modernism.
About supposed priorities
of bunkerized administrations.
About the inability to recognize
in all its forms
the thus developing brutalization.
About the yearning
for manageable idylls.
The supposed priorities
threaten the existence of this museum oasis.
It evidently does not bother
the decision makers much,
if the history of life,
of workaday life is lost.
Maybe it is even desired,
to be able to legitimize
the disappearance of manageability ...

von Gottfried Böhm (geboren 1920)
Über das Werk
von Peter Zumthor (geboren 1943)
Über die Kirche St. Kolumba in Köln
(erstmals erwähnt um 980)
Über die "Madonna in den Trümmern"
Über das Kunstmuseum "Kolumba"
(das Erzbischöfliche Diözesanmuseum in Köln)
St. Kolumba wurde 1943 im Bombenkrieg zerstört.
Die Ruine blieb als Mahnmal stehen.
Gottfried Böhm entwarf eine Kapelle,
die in diese Ruine integriert wurde (1947 - 1950).
Peter Zumthor entwarf den Museumsbau
"Kolumba" (2003 - 2007),
der heute am Ort der einstigen Ruine steht.
Die "Madonna in den Trümmern"
wurde in den Museumsbau integriert.
Wegen der Kapellenintegrierung
in den Museumsbau
gab es bitteren Streit
zwischen den Architekten.
Im September 2007
weihte Kölns Kardinal Meisner
das Museum ein.

Was bleibt eigentlich
von Kreativität,
wenn man sich Gedanken über all das macht,
was oben geschildert wird?
Über Geschichte ...

Und das kleine Madonnengefängnis
auf dem "Papsthügel", - täuscht es
oder hat da jemand versucht,
sich zumthorig anzulehnen
(aus der weiten Ferne gesehen) ?

About the church St. Kolumba in Cologne
(first mentioned about 980)
About the "Madonna in the Ruins"
About the art museum "Kolumba"
(the Museum of the Arch Diocese in Cologne)
St. Kolumba was destroyed
in 1943 during the bombing war.
The ruin remained as a memorial.
Gottfried Böhm designed a chapel
that was integrated in this ruin (1947 - 1950).
Peter Zumthor designed the museum building
"Kolumba" (2003 - 2007) that today stands on the site of the former ruin.
The "Madonna in the Ruins"
was integrated in the new museum building.
A bitter dispute arose between
the two architects
about the integration of the chapel
in the new museum building.
In September 2007 Cologne's Cardinal Meisner
consecrated the museum.
