So sah es gestern Abend - 30. Juni 2010 - am Himmel aus. In Berlin war im dritten Wahlgang Christan Wulff (CDU) zum neuen Bundespräsidenten gewählt worden. Joachim Gauck (parteilos) schaffte es nicht, weil die Unverbesserlichen der Die Linke Angst vor ihm und dem, wofür er einsteht, haben.

In Berlin Christian Wulff (Christian Democratic Party) had after three voting sessions been elected as the new Federal President of Germany. Joachim Gauck (no party affiliation) did not succeed because the incorrigibles of the "Die Linke" party (the party called "The Left") are afraid of him and of what he stands for.

Im Kölner Stadtwald am Haupteingang zum Tiergehege an der Marcel-Proust-Promenade stehen am schon heißen Sommervormittag vor dem klassisch modernistischen Reitweg-Markierungsstein zwei Fahrräder. Das eine Rad trägt den Markennamen "Prophete", das andere "Columbus". Und einer der Reifen trägt den Namen "Marathon". Und rechts am Bildrand ist Teil eines Dynamos zu sehen. All das am 4. Juli, dem amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitstag (es ging um Freiheit und Demokratie), ein Tag nachdem in Kapstadt (Südafrika) die deutsche Fußball-Nationalmannschaft im Viertefinale der Weltmeisterschaft gegen die Nationalmannschaft von Argentinien (Cheftrainer der betende Maradona) mit 4:0 gewann.
In Cologne's City Forest at the main entrance to the animal park stand on Marcel-Proust-Promenade on this already hot summer morning two bicycles in front of one of the classically modernistic horse-riding-path markers. One bike bears the brandname "Prophete", the other "Columbus". And one tire carries the name "Marathon". And on the right side of the photo one can see part of a dynamo. All this on July Fourth, the American Independence Day (that had to do with liberty and democracy), one day after in Capetown (South Africa) the German national soccer team had in the Worldcup quarter-finals against the national team of Argentina (the praying Maradona its senior trainer) won 4:0.

Gang um den Aachener Weiher in Köln. Am 20. Juli war im Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger (KStA) ein Artikel über den traurigen Zustand des Sees (der zum Tod zahlreicher Fische und Vögel führte) zu lesen gewesen.
Walk around the small artificial "Aachener Weiher" lake in Cologne. On July 20th an article about its sad state (causing the death of many birds and fishes) appeared in Cologne's daily Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger (KStA).

Auf Seite 22 einen Artikel - "Wohin die Daten strömen" (von Georg Imdahl) - über Jürgen Klauke und dessen aktuelle Ausstellung im ZKM in Karlsruhe. By the way, the KStA issue of July 20th contained a particularly interesting sheet with the pages 21 and 22. On page 21 an article - "Small atoms, big machine" (by Sarah Brasack) - about a new particle accelerator in the Institute for Nuclear Physics at the University of Cologne.
